Violence On The Vegas Strip
Violence On The Vegas Strip

AIR DATE: March 14, 2013

The recent shooting and car accident led to three deaths. But how significant is that? Is it an isolated incident when crime on the Strip is dropping? Or do we need to organize a special police force to keep the tourist corridor safe?
Capt. Chris Jones, Robbery and Homicide, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department

Are you kidding? Human trafficking or sex work by choice? Why is there NEVER a discussion of legalization by the cops. It was an experiment that worked in the rurals now for 30 years. Why are they so blind? Drive the pimps out of town.

I prefer dangerous wild freedom over peaceful safe slavery... With that being said, I don't believe you can regulate spontaneous emotional outbreaks. The event on the strip was tragic but is there really a way to stop this type of action that doesn't infringe on the "millions" of other people who haven't done this?

Hey not to sound like an english nazi but it's "bystanders" not "bystandards". People are not standards. You said it twice so I just thought I'd let you know.

Can we consider the acts we book into the strip nightclubs during important conventions?! Money does not trump SAFETY and continued tourism! The Shooter and Mazeratti driver went to see French Montana and Rick Ross as Haze that night. Rick Ross was involved in a gang shooting just the week before but we book him HERE during MAGIC! My mom was in a taxi to the airport after her convention that morning. I'm upset! It easily could have been her.

You're right, consider what's in town. Let's all not forget all-star weekend. I was a valet in a 5 star hotel and I've never seen so many pimps and prostitutes in my LIFE!!!! And I live here and know a few escorts and brothel workers... but this was like a tsunami of prostitutes.

What kind of safety are you suggesting? What action could have been taken to prevent one person getting angry with another? Yes it escalated into murder but what is a real preventative measure? Rock and Roll violence is far greater than hip hop violence, statisitcally, so what it sounds like you are suggesting is preventing ALL youth music from Vegas so your mom will be safe here??? how is tourism protected with liquor and smooth jazz offerings in Vegas?

Rock, rap, smooth jazz- if you were involved in a gangland shooting the week before you will bring out the gangland stuff here and it's a black eye on tourism. If Las Vegas is seen as unsafe then conventions will dry up and layoffs will be the norm.
