A Pathway To Citizenship, Tougher Penalties Under New Immigration Effort

Listen
AIR DATE: April 23, 2013

The new immigration reform bill proposed by the bipartisan Gang of Eight provides a 13-year path to citizenship for immigrants who are currently in the country without documents. There are different paths, though, depending on the industry and skill level of the person hoping to get a green card and eventually citizenship. Meanwhile, if passed,  the bill would strengthen border security and mandate stiffer penalties for illegal border crossings. We'll discuss the various pathways for immigrants and how the federal government plans to make the border more secure.
