The Old Guard: Two Former Governors Talk About The Past And Future
AIR DATE: April 25, 2013
Former governors Bob List and Richard Bryan led Nevada during an era of unprecedented growth and economic prosperity. They look back with us on how the state has changed during the last 30 years, and where we are going next.
I'd ask these two men to comment on the growth of the state budget... plot it year-by-year and it's essentially an exponentially increasing curve, *far* outpacing population growth. Hence questions like, why does it cost four or five times as much (in inflation-adjusted dollars) to educate a K-12 student now compared to several decades ago? Same thing for the university costs... huge budget increases *far* outpacing the student population growth. Hmmmm.... could it be insatiable "big government" at work here?Tom Hurst –Apr 24, 2013 21:57:42 PM
