Performance Studio

We've had many entertainers grace our studios. Sometimes we are privileged to experience a live performance. Our guests sing, dance and even procure "instruments" from the drawers of our KNPR office kitchen.

»6/19/09: The Bluegrass Music of Stuck in Reverse

The band's five members Peggy Ruesch (Guitar and vocals), Jan Ruesch (bass), Vera Vann-Wilson (banjo), Leon Evans (guitar) and Tom Flagg (mandolin) join us in the performance studio to discuss and play their music. The band will be playing tonight, June 19th, at the Bandstand Jam Series. The concert starts at 7pm at East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center at 250 N. Eastern Avenue.

»3/19/09: David Holben Faculty Tuba Recital

David Holben, Adjunct Prof of Tuba an Euphonium, UNLV
... on his mission to change the perception of the tuba as a solo instrument. He will be playing in the recital Friday, March 20 at 7:30pm in the Beam Music Center on the UNLV campus.

»3/17/09: USAF Band of the Golden West

Ten members of the ensemble join us to talk about their repetoire which includes light classics, jazz, Dixie and Broadway tunes. The group is composed of a brass quintet of trumpets, French horn, trombone and tuba... and spliced with a sax, guitar, drums and singers. The Travis Rhythm N' Brass Band is set to perform March 17 7:00pm at Historic Fifth Street School 401 S. Fourth St., Ste. 145 Las Vegas, NV 89101.

... on the rich sounds of traditional Arab music. The Traditional Arabic Music Ensemble will be performing at the Winchester Cultural Center Feb 15 at 2pm. The group will be performing traditional and contemprorary music of the Arab world on the Oud and on traditional Arabic percussion instruments.

... on the mariachi band this group of teachers started after dozens of teachers moved to Las Vegas to teach as part of the new CCSD mariachi program. The group performs every Friday and Saturday night at Lindo Michoacan and will perform tomorrow at the East LV Community/Senior Center.
