Peter Shire's
CONTROL TOWER
Rededication ceremonies November 19, 2001 at KNPR

Monday, November 19, 2001 KNPR hosted the rededication ceremonies for Peter Shire's "Control Tower".
Originally installed at McCarran International Airport in 1988, "Control Tower" had been in storage for the past few years. Though the concept of a control tower was designed to apply to an air traffic control center, the sculpture takes on additional meaning with its relationship to a radio station. Now on permanent loan, "Control Tower" graces the streetside entrance to KNPR's Donald W. Reynolds Broadcast Center at 1289 S. Torrey Pines.
The installation at KNPR was made possible with help from McCarran International Airport, The Las Vegas Arts Commission, Burke and Associates, and Fielden & Partners.
Along with the rededication at KNPR, Peter Shire's "Rubiyat Curtain" will be on display at the Winchester Center Gallery November 19-24.
