NV Extortion Probe Takes Virginia Turn

Police in Las Vegas say their probe of whether someone tried to extort a Republican Nevada state assemblyman on a key Legislature leadership vote led investigators to serve a search warrant at a suburban home in northwestern Virginia.

Las Vegas police said Virginia state police assisted in Thursday's search, and no arrests were made.

Police Sgt. John Sheahan said no additional information would be provided.

The home is in a suburban tract of large houses in the city of Front Royal, Virginia. That's about 70 miles west of Washington, D.C.

A police statement says the investigation is looking into Assemblyman Chris Edwards' report in December that he was approached about changing his vote for state Assembly speaker.
