Former Secretary Of State Ross Miller Won't Run For Congress
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Democratic former Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller says he won't run for the congressional seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Joe Heck.
Miller announced his plan Tuesday in an interview with journalist Jon Ralston on PBS' "Ralston Live" show.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee members met with Miller and state Senate Minority Leader Aaron Ford in Las Vegas in June in hopes of recruiting them for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Ford said earlier this month that he wouldn't run, and no other prominent Democrats have announced a bid.
Four Republicans are running. They include Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson, former congressional candidates Danny Tarkanian and Annette Teijeiro, and conservative think tank president Andy Matthews.
Heck is running for Senate. His swing district includes Henderson and Summerlin in southern Nevada.
