Someone Is Shooting Out Bus Windows In Reno And Sparks

SPARKS (AP) — The nighttime operation of a city bus route in Reno and Sparks has been suspended while police search for the suspect or suspects who have been shooting out bus windows with a BB or pellet gun.

Police say 19 windows have been shot out of more than a dozen buses over the past month, the most recent Monday night.

No one has been hurt but damage estimates exceed $20,000.

Most of the vandalism has occurred on Citifare Route No. 2 in an area along the Reno-Sparks line. The Regional Transportation Commission announced Tuesday that daily route will halt at 7 p.m. as the investigation continues.

Secret Witness is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the shooters. RTC and MV Transportation also are offering rewards totaling $10,000.
