Nevada Superintendent Taking New Role In Governor's Office

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada state Superintendent Dale Erquiaga is leaving his post to take a newly created job as the governor's Chief Strategy Officer.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said Erquiaga will be his liaison to education and workforce agencies as they implement new legislation passed this spring.

The governor said the new position will ensure education remains a top priority for the Sandoval administration, and that Nevada's workforce development efforts align meet the needs of new companies moving to the state.

Deputy Superintendent Steve Canavero will take the lead at the Nevada Department of Education in the interim.

Sandoval announced that his deputy chief counsel Joe Reynolds will become his chief counsel, and that Drought Summit Coordinator Pam Robinson will become his policy director.

Chief of Staff Mike Willden will remain in his role.
