LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 39-year-old former Nevada state prison guard was sentenced Thursday to three years' probation for his conviction on a felony marijuana prison smuggling charge.
State Attorney General Adam Laxalt says Ronald Hunt could face up to 30 months in prison if he violates terms of his sentence.
Hunt pleaded guilty in April to furnishing a controlled substance to state prisoner.
Laxalt says the smuggling took place in September 2014.
Hunt is at least the second former guard at High Desert State Prison outside Las Vegas sentenced this year in prison smuggling cases.
Derland Blake was sentenced in January to five years' probation for accepting money to smuggle cellphones to inmate Ammar Harris.
Harris is awaiting a death-penalty trial in a fiery Las Vegas Strip crash that killed three people.
