Women's Ski Gear Pitch Wins Reno 'Shark Tank'-Style Contest

RENO, Nev. (AP) — An entrepreneur developing gear for advanced-level female skiiers and snowboarders has won a "Shark Tank"-style business pitch competition at the Nevada Governor's Conference on Business.

Jen Gurecki is taking home $5,000 in cash and thousands of dollars' worth of IT services after the event Tuesday at the Atlantis casino in Reno.

Ten contestants had two minutes to pitch their business concept and three minutes to field questions from a panel of judges that included Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison.

Other competitors pitched cowboy boot covers, drone software, craft beer and vehicle batteries.

AT&T and IQ Technology Solutions sponsored the competition and provided cash and IT services to the top two finishers.

More than 600 people attended the conference, which featured keynote speeches from a Tesla vice president and Gov. Brian Sandoval.
