Las Vegas Airport Traffic Up 8.8 Percent In July

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Airport officials say about 4 million people flew into and out of Las Vegas in July.

McCarran International Airport released statistics Friday that show traffic was up 8.8 percent last month compared to a year ago.

Domestic and international flights increased, by 9 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

There were also more passengers on four of the five busiest carriers at the airport.

Spirit Airlines saw the biggest jump with 34.9 percent more passengers last month compared to July 2014.

Delta and American airlines also saw double-digit gains; while the top McCarran carrier Southwest Airlines had a 7.9 percent increase.

Meanwhile, United Airlines had 9.9 percent fewer passengers last month compared to last year. The airline in April also had a drop in the number of people flying.
