Interim Nevada Superintendent Gets Job On Permanent Basis

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The interim state superintendent of Nevada schools is taking the job on a permanent basis.

Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Tuesday that Steve Canavero was selected for the job, after interviews with three people the state education board had passed along.

Canavero worked as a teacher and a principal before becoming the first director of Nevada's State Public Charter School Authority. He later became a deputy state superintendent, and took over as chief of the department over the summer when then-superintendent Dale Erquiaga took a job in the governor's office. He lives in Reno with his wife and two daughters.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
