Businessman, GOP Activist Nick Phillips Running For Assembly

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Las Vegas businessman and political activist who lost a competitive election to chair the Nevada Republican Party says he'll run for an Assembly seat.

Nick Phillips announced Monday that he'll seek the Assembly District 41 seat, which is held by freshman Republican Assemblywoman Vicki Dooling. Dooling isn't seeking re-election.

The district leans slightly Democratic by registration.
