Convicted Sex Offender From Las Vegas Dies In Nevada Prison

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Prison officials in Nevada say a 48-year-old convicted sex offender who was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in a child sex case has died behind bars.

The state Department of Corrections said Monday that Todd Avery Stickney died Saturday in a prison medical facility at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

A cause of death wasn't immediately disclosed. Prison officials say the Carson City sheriff and coroner will conduct an autopsy.

Records show that Stickney pleaded guilty in January 2008 in Las Vegas to sexual assault of a victim under 16 years of age.

His lawyer at the time said Monday he no longer represented Stickney.
