NASCAR Weekend Expected To Bring Heavy Traffic

Drivers are being warned to avoid the I-15 corridor this weekend because of traffic for NASCAR races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

An estimated 100,000 people will be going to and from the area over the next three days. The premiere race is the Kobalt 400 on Sunday.

The speedway advises fans to arrive early and have a full tank of gas. Officials suggest locals use the 215 to northbound I-15 to avoid traffic through the resort area. Drivers can also stay off the freeway all together and take Las Vegas Boulevard.

There are also several shuttle services and buses from several hotels. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, taxis will be cleared to drive through Nellis Air Force Base.
