ACLU: Too Many Barriers For Voter Registration At Nevada DMV

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Critics say it's too hard for people to register to vote through the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.

The American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter to the Nevada Secretary of State's Office on Monday, saying forms available at the DMV are violating the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.

The act specifies that applications for driver's licenses should serve as a voter registration application and that a change of address with the DMV should also update a voter's registration.

ACLU says the Nevada DMV requires voters to fill out separate forms for both. It also alleges that the DMV is not processing voter registration forms promptly and some are falling through the cracks.
