UNLV basketball interim coach Todd Simon has landed a permanent gig – but not with the Rebels.
Multiple media outlets, including the Las Vegas Sun, report Southern Utah University in Cedar City has hired Simon to be their new basketball coach.
Simon took over the helm at UNLV this January following Dave Rice's resignation and had a 9-8 record.
Before taking over, Simon was an assistant coach at UNLV for two seasons, and was also head coach at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas.
There's no word yet on who the Rebels will tap to be its new head coach, but other reports say the University of Cincinnati has given permission to its coach, Mick Cronin, to talk to UNLV about the opening.
