Mesquite Receives Grant Money

Mesquite has received nearly $100,000 in grants to improve services in that area.

The Desert Valley Times reports the grant money has come from Clark County, and will go to fund a variety of projects.

The Mesquite Police Department is getting $28,000 to replace a fingerprinting machine … beforehand, people living in Mesquite who needed to get fingerprinted had to go to Las Vegas to do it.

Two grants of $35,000 each are going to the Mesquite Senior Center and to the Mesquite Recreation Center in order for both to provide new services for residents.

Officials say the grant money to the Recreation Center will offset costs for residents in rural areas so they can continue to pay county resident fees to use the facility.

Money for the Senior Center will be used to continue Meals on Wheels services to rural areas as well.
