CCSD To Remove Schools From Year-Round Track

The Clark County School District announced that seven elementary schools would be transitioning off a year-round calendar, effective this coming school year.

In a release Friday, CCSD said Manuel C. Cortez, Clyde C. Cox, Lois Craig, Ruben P. Diaz, Steve Schorr, Wayne N. Tanaka and Gwendolyn Woolley elementary schools would go back to the traditional calendar for the 2016-17 school year.

All other schools currently on year-round tracks are set to remain on them next school year.

CCSD said this change would save it around $2 million, and that planned new construction would help take on some of the students affected by these changes.

The district also said it has no plans at present to move any more schools to a year-round track.
