Clark County Appoints Deputy DA To Handle Conviction Reviews

Authorities in southern Nevada have designated a deputy district attorney to review cases in which factual claims of innocence are brought forward.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that the Clark County District Attorney's Office says it will begin operating the new Conviction Review Unit this month.

According to a news release, Chief Deputy District Attorney Dan Silverstein will establish criteria for cases that will be accepted for review. Silverstein said in the release that he is looking forward to the challenge.

Most major U.S. cities have similar units.
