3 Nevada Judges Nominated For State Supreme Court Vacancy
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Two state court judges in Las Vegas and one in Reno are finalists for a vacant seat on the Nevada Supreme Court.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection on Tuesday sent the names of Clark County District Court judges Elissa Cadish and Mark Denton and Washoe County District Court Judge Lidia Stiglich to Gov. Brian Sandoval for consideration.
The Republican governor, himself a former federal judge, will make the final appointment.
Justice Nancy Saitta retired in August with two years left on her term on the nine-member court.
Court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer says nine applicants with at least two years of residency and 15 years as attorneys sought the position.
All three finalists were initially appointed to their current positions: Cadish in 2007, Denton in 1998, and Stiglich in 2012.
