Inmate Dies At Nevada State Prison

A 76-year-old Nevada inmate who was serving a life prison sentence out of Washoe County has died at the medical facility inside the state prison in Carson City.

Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Keast said in a statement Monday that Jerome Lorenzi died on Saturday.

The Carson City sheriff's office coroner plans an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

Keast said Lorenzi had been at the prison since October 2011.

A Washoe County district judge sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after he was convicted of lewdness with a child under 14. He'd been ordered to serve that sentence concurrent with a term of one year to 32 months for possession of images depicting sexual conduct of a person under 16.
