Nevada City Moves Forward On Project To Avoid Flooding

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — The city of Sparks says it has approved a construction contract for a critical part of its river flooding project.

KTVN-TV reports that the Sparks City Councilsays it approved a $14,118,008 contract with Q&D Construction for the final phase of the North Truckee Drain Realignment project.

The council says it will realign the drain downstream of the Truckee River and is a component of the overall Truckee River Flood Project.

They say storm water as far north as the Spanish Springs Valley flows into the drain, so realigning that will reduce flooding in the Sparks industrial area.

The project is funded by flood fees paid by Sparks residents and businesses.
