County May Lend $500K To Stadium Authority For Start-Up Cost

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County might lend up to half a million dollars to the entity that oversees a proposed Las Vegas NFL stadium.

Chairman Steve Sisolak told the Las Vegas Review-Journal the county commission will consider the loan during its Tuesday meeting. The money would help the stadium authority board to hire lawyers and negotiate contracts for building and running the stadium.

It could also pay for economics firm Applied Analysis to function as the board's temporary staff at a rate of up to $25,000 a month.

The stadium authority will be funded by a county hotel tax increase that's set to take effect in January. Sisolak says the authority would begin to repay the county loan as soon as it starts collecting revenue from the hotel tax.
