New, Bigger DMV Office Opens For Business In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles hopes to cut down wait times with a new and bigger Las Vegas office that was four years in the making.

Officials held a grand opening ceremony on Monday morning for a DMV office on East Sahara Avenue.

The $17.8 million building has 48 customer service windows instead of the 34 in the old DMV office next door. That building was more than 40 years old and will be demolished to make room for more parking.

The new office also has a new emissions lab and more space for meeting and training rooms. It employs 167 people.

Gov. Brian Sandoval didn't attend the ceremony but said at another meeting that the state wants to make Nevadans' trips to the DMV as positive as possible.
