Supporters of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy are hoping for a pardon from President Donald Trump.
Bundy has been in jail since February 2016 after being arrested and charged in connection with the armed standoff between Bundy supporters and Bureau of Land Management agents in April 2014 near his ranch in Bunkerville.
Bundy and several associates including two of his sons are scheduled to appear for trial on October 10.
But longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone has been leading the charge for a pardon, similar to what Trump did for former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
It’s unclear how receptive Trump is to the idea, but like his pardon of Arpaio, pardoning Bundy might play well with his base supporters.
The start of Bundy’s trial might be delayed as his attorneys filed a motion for delay in light of Sunday’s tragedy.
