Illinois Lawmaker To Speak To Northern Nevada Business Owners About Yucca Mtn.

A lawmaker from Illinois will argue the case for re-opening the process to create a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Republican Congressman John Shimkus will talk to business owners in northern Nevada Tuesday.

Shimkus will speak to a members-only meeting of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce about the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act of 2017.

Sponsor Message

Shimkus is sponsoring the bill, which doesn’t address licensure or funding of Yucca Mountain, but concerns issues connected to the project.

Historically, Nevada has been against it, spending millions of dollars to oppose it.
