Arizona Woman Shot In Las Vegas Shooting To Leave Hospital

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona woman who was shot in the head during the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history is preparing to leave a Phoenix hospital after what doctors are calling a miraculous recovery.

Jovanna Calzadillas, her husband and doctors are expected to speak at a news conference Wednesday before she heads home.

Barrow Neurological Institute officials say Calzadillas' injuries were so critical that they talked to her family about removing life support.

She was brought to the hospital two and a half weeks after the Oct. 1 Las Vegas shooting.

Authorities say gunman Stephen Paddock fired on a crowd attending an outdoor country music festival from his room on the 32nd floor of a resort.

He killed 58 people and wounded hundreds of others before killing himself.
