Nevada scored 48 th in pupil-teacher ratio and 51 st in median ACT score.

Education officials have blamed the dip in ACT scores on a state law that made it mandatory for all 11 th graders to take the ACT starting in 2017.

Nevada is one of 17 states that requires students to take the ACT before graduation.
