CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A 49-year-old Douglas County woman has been arrested on charges accusing her of embezzling more than $5,000 from her elderly mother.

She's accused of taking money that was intended for the care and comfort of her 74-year-old mother, Sharon Mayes, between January and June of last year.

Laxalt says she used her mother's bank card to withdraw money from her account, including at ATM machines in the Wa She Shu and Sharkey's casinos in Gardnerville. He says she converted the funds for her own personal use.
