Fire In Elko County Now More Than 120,000 Acres
Forest Service officials continue to fight a wildfire in Elko County that has now grown to over 120,000 acres in size.
The South Sugarloaf Fire, to the southwest of Owyhee, has been burning for about a week.
More than 630 personnel are battling the blaze, which was sparked by lightning.
Officials are concerned high winds this afternoon could fan flames and cause the fire to continue to grow in size.
Despite the fire's growth, officials still project it will be fully contained a week from today.
At present, about 20 percent containment has been maintained.
