RENO, Nev. (AP) — A final report from an investigation into an explosion that forced two University of Nevada, Reno, dorms to close is expected to come out this week.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported Monday that Nevada State Fire Marshal Bart Chambers says the findings are currently being reviewed.
Investigators say the July 5 explosion was caused by a gas leak.
It caused a smaller blast in a basement boiler room at Argenta Hall and then a more massive explosion that also damaged Nye Hall.
The impact took out walls and windows and eight people suffered minor injuries.
Both dorms will be uninhabitable for the next year.
The university earlier this month signed a $21 million lease agreement to house 1,300 students at a hotel-casino for the coming year.
