Lincoln County Moved To Declare State Of Emergency Over Area 51 Event
What started as an internet joke could end up costing Nevada taxpayers.
Lincoln County just moved to declare a state of emergency ahead of the Storm Area 51 Facebook event.
County and state officials plan to meet this week to discuss resources. The event to storm the top-secret military installation has now gathered more than 2 million RSVPs, and turned into a three-day festival.
The closest town of Rachel, Nevada has a posted population of 54 people and is set to host Alienstock from September 19 through 22.
Residents in the town with no cell phone service are concerned the town cannot support such a festival.
