More Apartments Opening Near UNLV
The area around UNLV has recently seen the opening of three large apartment complexes, giving students more of a chance to live near the campus, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The Degree, a 226-unit on-campus student housing complex, was more than 90 percent leased before the fall semester started. The yoU, a 125-unit apartment building across Maryland Parkway from the school, had its first tenant move in last week.
Echo 1055, a 215-unit complex on Tropicana Avenue, opened last month.
G2 Capital Development founder Frank Marretti, developer of the yoU, said on-campus housing has been “less than adequate” in meeting demand.
Marretti said the university’s growth has attracted residential developers.
In fall 2018, 30,457 students were enrolled at UNLV, up about 9.4 percent from the fall of 2013, university figures show.
