Utah Officer To Spend A Week In Jail After Inmate Sex Claims

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A former correctional officer at a Utah jail has been sentenced to a week behind bars following claims he had sex with inmates.

The Standard-Examiner reports a court sentenced 41-year-old Jeremy Clark Miller on Tuesday to 60 days in jail but the majority will be spent on work release.

Miller was convicted in July of engaging in sexual contact with inmates. He pleaded no contest to a felony charge of custodial sexual relations.

Miller had worked with the Weber County Sheriff's Office and supervised female inmates at a county correctional facility.

According to court documents, two inmates told investigators that they had sex with Miller. He was arrested in January.

Records show Miller had been written up years earlier for making sexual comments to inmates.

His attorney Ronald Nichols called the sentencing "fair."
