DoorDash Sued By Deli Owner Alleging Driver Stabbed Him

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas restaurant owner who says he was stabbed by a DoorDash driver is accusing the on-demand delivery service of negligence in hiring a three-time felon with a history of violence and mental illness.

A lawsuit filed Thursday by Fabio Coppola and his wife, Heather Coppola says the alleged assailant, Mackie Lee Allen, delivered the food order after the attack.

Coppola's attorney, Richard Schonfeld, says the case raises questions about the company's responsibility to protect consumers and restaurant workers.

DoorDash representative Mattie Magdovitz declined by email to comment about the lawsuit, but says the company dismissed Allen.

The 32-year-old Allen was arrested about a week after the October 2018 attack at Roma Deli Restaurant.

He's jailed pending a court hearing on an attempted murder charge.
