Ex-Sen. Heller: 2020 A Choice Between 'Crazy And Socialism'
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former U.S. Sens. Dean Heller and Harry Reid are decrying the partisan divide in Washington and lack of civility in politics.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that the two Nevadans also spoke Thursday about the 2020 presidential election while appearing in a panel discussion at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas law school moderated by former Gov. Brian Sandoval.
Heller, a Republican, suggested that choosing between re-electing President Donald Trump or the Democratic candidates who've lurched left made it a choice "between crazy and socialism" and said, "I'm going with crazy."
Democrat Reid quipped, "I'm going with socialism."
Reid retired in 2016. Heller lost a re-election bid in 2018 after aligning himself with Trump, whom he once criticized.
