North Las Vegas Ordinance Allows City To Punish Landlords Defying No-Eviction Order

The North Las Vegas City Council passed an ordinance granting the city manager emergency powers and allowing the city to punish anyone violating emergency orders from the city or state.

Landlords and property managers who violate the state's moratorium on residential and commercial evictions are subject to administrative fines of up to $1,000 per day, revocation of business licenses or permits, and/or misdemeanor charges carrying penalties of up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

Besides dealing with eviction issues, the ordinance lays the groundwork for the city to enforce emergency orders from the city manager or the governor.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
