The Nevada Legislature is seen on April 13, 2025 in Carson City, Nevada.

Hundreds of bills are dead after Friday's first major legislative deadline of Nevada’s 83rd Legislative Session.

Roughly 300 bills and resolutions are no longer up for consideration after the Nevada Legislature’s first house committee passage deadline. Most of those bills never received a committee hearing.

Among the bills that died is a measure that would have expanded the definition of animal cruelty, and another that would have established a toll road between the city of Sparks and the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center in Storey County.

A proposal, from the 2023 legislation session, to amend the state constitution in favor of a lottery also won’t move forward.

Bills still up for consideration will now head to the floor of their house of origin for a full vote of either the Senate or the Assembly.

The last day of the 2025 Legislative Session is June 2.
