Whatever else Moe Dalitz may have been, his success as a Las Vegas businessman is evident across the city.
Often referred to as "Mr. Las Vegas," Dalitz is known for his contributions to creating the Las Vegas Country Club, Sunrise Hospital and Boulevard Mall. Dalitz took over the Desert Inn in 1950 and later the Stardust Resort and Casino.
The bit of Dalitz' history that Las Vegas can't seem to forget, however, is his early involvement with the Cleveland Syndicate, and the association with the famous crime family.
Returning to Las Vegas for a special speaker series at the Mob Museum, Suzanne Dalitz will talk about life growing up with her father.
"By the time I got to kindergarten, the [school] said maybe it would be better if I didn't attend," Suzanne Dalitz said. "It was this kind of commentary that actually led to the dissolution of my parent's marriage, and a drastic change rupture in my family.
Suzanne Dalitz describes to KNPR the differences between mob kids and casino kids, and what she would like her father's legacy to be.
