If you find yourself driving down Sandhill Road in Las Vegas, the extensions from one of the homes might make you look twice. Is it a carnival? An amusement park?

No, it’s Lonnie Hammargren’s home.

It’s where he’s collected and stashed more than 10,000 artifacts … from the Apollo space capsule to a roller coaster from the Stratosphere.

Hammargren, a retired brain surgeon and former Lieutenant Governor, typically opens his eclectic home to the curious Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30, from noon to 4 p.m. at 4318 Ridgecrest Drive.

He has also written an autobiography, “Neurosurgeon for the Gladiators”, that provides a glimpse into the mind of the man behind this home.
