The Zirna Trio is a Las Vegas-based group. Moonlight Tran, cello; Damaris Morales, piano; Rebecca Sabine, violin.

In the world of classical music it’s men who, historically, have been in the limelight.

We know 19th century composer Felix Mendelssohn. But how many of us know the music of his sister, Fanny Mendelssohn? She was a composer, too.

The Zirna Trio, a Las Vegas-based group, is performing music of Fanny Mendelssohn (1805-1847) and the work of two other female classical composers - Melanie Bonis (1858-1937) and Amy Beach (1867-1944) - at Winchester Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16

Damaris Morales is the founder of the Zirna Trio and the group’s piano player. Moonlight Tran is the group's cellist. Rebecca Sabine is the violinist.
