Universal Horror Unleashed brings theme-park thrills to Las Vegas

Courtesy NBCUniversal

One of the biggest theme park companies in the world has made its Las Vegas debut.

Universal Horror Unleashed is a year-round haunt inspired by the popular Halloween Horror Nights seasonal event at Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando. The indoor Vegas attraction, which opened August 14, boasts four haunted houses, or mazes, and it’s rounded out by interactive themed zones, food and beverage spots, and live entertainment. It launches Zone 2, the newest part of the now-sprawling Area 15 entertainment campus.

Universal Horror Unleashed has already drummed up excitement among horror and theme park fans, as well as in the international media. It's a rare Halloween-type experience that's open all 12 months of the year.

So, does it live up to the hype?
