Las Vegas officials broke ground Monday, August 18, on an expansion to the city’s Recuperative Care Center for the unhoused.

The original Recuperative Care Center was built in 2021 in the Corridor of Hope. Its 40 beds were open to sick and injured members of Las Vegas’ 7,900-person unhoused population.

The new center is an expansion of this existing facility and will more than double the number of beds available.

A recuperative care program operates out of the center, offering unhoused people medical care and counseling. The program places 52% of clients in housing following treatment, according to the city.

During construction, which is expected to last until late 2026, these services will be temporarily housed in the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center, which is also located in the Corridor of Hope.
