Norm Schilling has some tips on getting your fruit trees as productive as the ones in his yard.

Norm says the fruit trees that do best in the Valley are the following: peaches, apricots, plums, asian pear, some varieties of apple, figs, pomegranates, lemons, almonds, grapes, orange, grapefruit.

Citrus trees can be cold-sensitive here in Southern Nevada, so are best planted in locations such as near a house wall, so they can get a little radiated and lost heat from the home during colder periods. Courtyards, protected on all four sides by buildings are also favorable locations. However, there is some risk in growing citrus here, depending on how cold it gets and for how long. Colder areas of the valley (around the south, west and northern edges) are more challenged than central and eastern parts.
